IMPORTANT: If you know any Catholics in the Rapid City Diocese, please forward this onto them and ask them to spread the word!
A meeting, sponsored by Catholics Concerned about Common Core, has been scheduled in order to give parents, and other interested parties, an opportunity to learn about Common Core Standards and their impact on Catholic Schools in the Rapid City Diocese.
Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Rapid City and in the Diocese of Sioux Falls are currently implementing the Common Core Standards in Math and English Language Arts as well as the Smarter Balanced testing (which will create a data profile for our Catholic students.) Proposed standards for the public schools of Next Generation Science Standards, social studies standards and National Sexuality Education Standards will pose an even greater threat to our Catholic teachings. Since the Catholic schools are embracing Common Core State Standards (“adapt not adopt” is clearly just an euphemism,) it is not clear how they will avoid the next phase of nationalized standards.
Please plan to attend and learn why the Common Core Standards are a threat to the moral development of Catholic children. Catholic home school parents, who will eventually be affected by Common Core Standards, are encouraged to attend.
Date: Saturday, November 16, 2013
Time: 9 AM to 11 AM
Place: Blessed Sacrament Church, main floor of the parish center.
