Smoke Out of HB 1223 Successful! Stand With Dan! Action Required!

On Thursday, February 19, 2015, there was a successful smoke out of HB 1223, the bill to remove the Common Core and other multi-state standards from South Dakota.

When we arrive at the capitol we are told, “Welcome to the people’s house.” This legislative session, that hasn’t exactly been the case for parents and teachers who oppose the education reform agenda.

This agenda transforms education from teaching knowledge to workforce development for K-12.

The representatives who stood with Representative Kaiser are:  Wiik, Marty, Bolin, Don Haggar, Klumb, Zikmund, Rasmussen, Craig, Lana Greenfield, Haugaard, Verchio, Russell, Anderson, Leslie Heinemann, Stalzer, Qualm, Hickey, May, Campbell, Kaiser, DiSanto, Latterell, Langer, Westra, Gosch, Beal, and Hunt. Please contact them and thank them for standing with the people of South Dakota.

If your representative is not on this list, please contact them and ask them to stand with Dan and the people of South Dakota.

This bill will be heard on the House Floor on Tuesday, February, 24, 2015. We invite you to come to Pierre that day. We need parents and teachers to come to Pierre and stand with representatives as they stand for the parents, teachers and children of our state.

    • Grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters parents! Please come to Pierre. If someone is not able to come to Pierre, maybe they could help a parent with arrangements for their children while the parent comes to Pierre! There is a role for everyone!

  1. I’m a teacher and I whole-hardheartedly disagree with the opinions of this website. Common Core is right for South Dakota, and my classroom.
